Heroes that kill: Are they still heroes to to you?

The Comic World is filled with heroes and anti-heroes that have killed or continually kill in the course of their superhero careers.

Most of my favorite characters have killed...intentionally. Captain America /Steve Rogers has beheaded people with his shield, thrown people from trains and snapped necks, but seems to always prefer to do it "by the book" when logically possible. Flash snapped Zoom's neck to save innocent civilians...his wife included.

Then there are those such as The Punisher, AzBats, Bucky Cap/Winter Solider, Deadpool and Wolverine who make no bones about doing what needs to be done for the mission and/ or greater good.

While comics are a way to escape reality for many of us, there are some comparisons to real life beliefs, morals & virtues. The idea and consequences of taking a life in any situation is something many see differently, for different reasons.

Batman would rather die than take a life, The Joker included, while at the same time, The Punisher would rather die than miss taking the life during the process of hunting a villain the likes of Jigsaw etc.

"Captain America & Bucky" how the FU** did I miss this???

I think it's pretty apparent that in the world of ClanKiller Comic Publications, characters Bucky, Moon Knight, Punisher, Azrael, Apocalypse, Hobgoblin and Mr. Sinister are the heavy hitters.

This being said, I am ashamed at the fact that I while I knew that Bucky was coming back, missed out on classic material explaining his origins.

I make it a point to not collect single comics, choosing to read the storylines in TPB format, but this may be a rule-breaker if Buck is back to being The Winter Solider.

Has anyone picked up the new title? May I have your thoughts??

I love Buck as both Cap and as WS. He has a depth that no other character can really match due to the violent nature of his origin by being the guy that did the dirty work that Steve/Cap couldn't do and the guilt he carries for being the killing machine while programmed to be The Winter Solider. The fact that Black Widow is his babe is kind of cool as well.

Seeing him be the WS as a Hero is going to be awesome, especially if they are/ will hold up to the edgy storytelling they claim to have in store for him.

Thoughts? Opinions? Additional gushing?

Marvel Universe/ 3 3/4" gushing continued... Hawkeye!

Yes, he has limited articulation...yes, he is actually a sub-release from the Avengers line..but this is one kick ass figure!

The sculpt itself is fantastic and pretty accurate to the Ultimate version minus a few details, but nothing that one couldn't customize themselves.

The holsters, the weapons, even the colors..all awesome. Even the backpack which is permanently affixed, looks great without the missiles inserted. In fact, I think you could actually take a bow and arrow accessory from another figure and use them here nicely.

He is just bad ass, especially next to the Sub-Released Ulti-Cap and Thor figures.

The Marvel 3 3/4" line is winning me over big time and making a liar out of me, as I said I would never buy into the line.

Jennifer, Josh talk about thier "Hunger Games" action figures

Jennifer is not sure what to think, but Josh thinks its super cool. http://bit.ly/GRckZF What do you think of the figures?

Plus, here's a slideshow of stars compared to their figures -- http://bit.ly/GT9Dno come back here and discuss!

Dear Hasbro: Walmart Royal Starship Droid R2-D2 is the best R2 ever...

...even with those annoying "build a droid" holes on the sides of his body. Please release him as a single carded figure ASAP. Thank you! Smile

So with the new Avatar series starting, does Mattel still have the license?

So the first two episodes of the follow up series to Avatar the Last Airbender are now online. They look pretty good. They managed to find a nice balance where the series is recognizable as a being in the same world as the earlier series but making it seem more modern.

I also like the fact that very few of the characters from the first series are still around. But by having a select few of them around, it should leave the door open to occasionally revisit those characters through flashbacks.

So now the question is, does Mattel still hold the license and are they or whoever does hold it going to try to merchandise the new series? I suppose that a new line from Mattel is out of the question since they would have to make an Avatar line with no main character since this version is a female.

Can someone refresh my memory?

I recently re-watched Enter the Dragon and was thinking back to when the 8" or 9" figures were released by Play Along Toys. Around the same time I remember another company making a 3 3/4 scale line, might have been overseas, maybe japanese? I distinctly remember seeing a carded Mr. Han.

Tried a Google Image search, and I can't find pics or mention of these guys anywhere. Can someone tell me who made them, or if they were prototypes for a proposed line which never made it to market?

Thanks,
Mr. Tibbs

My latest Universal Monster "toy"

Articulation? Bupkis.

But he's probably 95% full scale, and at only $89 shipped, I couldn't pass on him. I'll repaint the eyes more acurately, and might add a pond pump an dhose so he ends up becoming a large pond spitter.

(Or if the wife complains about that idea, he'll end up being mounted on a wall, or near a window so it looks like hes crawling in.)

He's a little over 3 feet wide, I think.

They are also making the Wolfman, Drac, and Frank.

Who would you say is THE Main Character for both Marvel and DC each?

By this I mean the one character, that everyone thinks of when you say either Marvel or DC...

For DC, I would have to say it's Batman. Prior to the 90's I would have said Superman, but Batman just seems to be such a mainstream hero now between movies and huge storylines.

With Marvel, it's a bit tougher. Spiderman would have been the no-brainer, but now it seems like Captain America has become "The Guy" between the movies and storylines. I'm amazed at how much Cap/ Steve Rogers is really involved with almost every major storyline over the last 4 years.

What do you think?
