Playing Mantis is getting more and more into the action figure arena after testing the waters with the rerelease of Captain Action last year. Playing Mantis has listened to the fans who were complaining of having to buy a new figure with the release of each outfit, and is now going to be issuing the good Captain's various costumes separately as the classic line originally did.

Playing Mantis is resurrecting yet another classic action figure, this time in name only. Action Jackson will be making a return to toy shelves this October. Rather than redoing the old figures, this new Action Jackson is a soldier/adventurer type. Each figure is approximately 8" tall, with cloth outfits and loads of cool accessories. For the time being look for these at your local KB Toys. The line isn't exclusive, but KB is the only outlet carrying the line for now.

Also, due in stores any time now are 8" action figures based on Universal Studios Mystery Men (which in turn is based on the comic book by Flaming Carrot creator Bob Burden). Figures in this line include Mr. Furious, The Shoveler, The Spleen, Captain Amazing, the Blue Rajah and The Bowler. Don't look for the missing members of the team, or the villainous Casanova Frankenstein anytime soon. Playing Mantis has indicated that, unless the line is a surprise mega-hit, this is it for the Mystery Men.
