The booth for Diamond Comic Distributors was, perhaps, one of the single most exciting locations for action figure fans because of the sheer amount of product they had on display, including a couple of surprise lines that are sure to be fan favorites like The Matrix, Mad Max: The Road Warrior and 2000 A.D.!
Diamond had the Hasbro 12" Harley Quinn, Batgirl and Robin (previously exclusive to HasbroCollectors.com) on display at the booth, and RTM learned that Diamond has an agreement with Hasbro for their exclusive items. A figure, such as Harley, will be offered only through HasbroCollectors.com for a certain window of time after which Diamond will be able to offer the figures to comic book stores. This is great news for folks without internet connections! (The Diamond release dates for Batgirl and Robin have not been determined yet).
Diamond has also signed a deal with Jun Planning to be their exclusive U.S. distributor. This means will be seeing a lot more of those great Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach figures, as well as upcoming items from Sleepy Hollow!
Gen 13 fans patiently (or, impatiently as the case may be!) waiting for the first assorment of 12" Gen 13 figures (Fairchild and Lynch, each with a variant as well) will be happy to know these are schedule to be in stores this coming Wednesday (8-18). KB Toys will also be carrying these figures, and possibly will have their own 12" exclusive Fairchild figure - most likely in the outfit she wore in the Gen 13 Interactive one-shot.
The 9" Buffy the Vampire Slayer figures (Buffy, Angel and Willow) will be out in October.

Probably one of the biggest surprises of SDCC was the revelation of Mad Max action figures from WB Toys! Sure, the movie came out in 1982 in the US - but these are still some terrific looking toys! Look for these in early 2000. |

Fans have been clamoring for action figures from The Matrix ever since the movie opened back in April. At this late date no one expected this line at all! This line will see limited release through Diamond, Musicland and possibly KB Toys around the end of November.

Diamond also had the entire first assorment of 2000 A.D. figures from new company Re:Action Ltd. on display as well, much to the delight of fans of the long running British comic. The figures look awesome, with terrific detail and articulation. Diamond has finalized a deal to bring this line to the U.S., so American fans can add these great figures to to their collections!
