United Arab Emirates, 11 April 2012: ExtraCake P.R.A, organisors of the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC), presented by Samsung Galaxy Note, are proud to announce that the MEFCC is now a sister event to one of the largest pop culture conventions in the world, the New York Comic Con (NYCC).
The strategic relationship has evolved as a way of sharing expertise and resources towards not only spreading the culture of entertainment conventions into new markets but also to add value to the Middle East's largest pop culture festival in years to come.
With the objective of building a consistent platform for regional talent and giving international entertainment companies a high quality outlet within the region, both teams will be sharing resources, expertise and working more closely together in the future.
"The Middle East Film and Comic Con is an exciting project in an emerging market that has a lot of potential and the quality and standards being set give us great confidence for future success," notes Lance Fensterman, Group Vice President for ReedPOP and Show Director for NYCC. "Part of our mission at ReedPOP is to spread the currency of cool around the globe with new events and new relationships and we see MEFCC as an awesome new community for geeks in a growing market in the world."
Ben Caddy, Managing Director of ExtraCake PRA commented, "As far as we know this is a unique arrangement within the comic convention circuit and this association with one of the highest quality pop culture events in the world is a fantastic boost for us giving us great confidence that we, and the MEFCC, are heading in the right direction."
In addition to cooperating on strategy, guest outreach, marketing resources and operational expertise as an initial part of this tie up, the team will be offering fans attending the premiere MEFCC in Dubai in April 2012 the opportunity to win VIP tickets to the New York Comic Con in October with the support of airline partner Virgin Atlantic.
The event will be a showcase of pop entertainment and popular culture from various segments of the entertainment industry including but not restricted to science fiction, fantasy films and TV, animation, comic books, anime and manga as well as pop art, collectables (action figures, autographs etc.) and merchandising.
The Middle East Film & Comic Con will be held at Abu Dhabi's National Exhibition Centre in April 2012, and exhibition space is open for bookings for content creators, animation studios and merchandisers right through to individual artists and collectors.
